Creative cover up to mask the sidestand retraction scrapes but as my Mama would say, "pride goes before a fall" and so my scoot did a massive jive in the Wanganui gorge and decided to add more luscious scrapes on the canvas - not that I've seen it but I did see the top box afterwards in hosp with many vertical scratch marks all over it!!! It's so good to be alive :-)

...ya got me - you'll have to strum the final "yeah" on your base guitar for me ;)
Think I may have written the gory details elswhere but fortunately I blacked out before I hit the ground so I'm wondering if the handlebars did me in when they jibbed so violently without warning! Happened in Wanganui Gorge, lot of washouts and road work patches on that route. Anyway, I was found face down, got a rip in my jacket, helmet visor deeply scratched, leathers beneath jacket had strap ripped off on right side and as for me, by grace of God and good gear, I didn't show a broken bone according to all x-rays - just massive internal bruising, sore ribs & lower back. Hospital released me 24 hrs later and I had to leave my scoot in Wanganui (picked up by Joe Lett Ltd - thanks guys) and fly home.
Was I ever miffed at not getting to Nelson but glad that I was able to tell the tale of how I didn't get there. Anyway, mod cit. no-one has given a write up about the rally in Nelson - how was it? What happened? Plse release me from the black out...
Woah! Scary. Glad to hear that you're OK even if your GT is a bit the worse for wear. So you don't actually know what caused the fall? Road surface presumably....?

Sorry Brodie, hadn't realised that I didn't answer your question of nearly three years ago!!! Yep, a combination of road surface (it was bad) and possibly inexperience of riding with a luggage load on such a surface when taking a corner.
