    Hi there,

If anyone is interested, I manage the Parakai Airfield in North West Auckland and I'm happy to sell AVGAS to people, not for road use.

Currently we sell for non-aviation use at about $2.15 per litre.  Vs $2.70 per litre for "race fuel" at the gas station in Kumeu.

I'm not trying to peddle it here. If you can get a better price, thats cool for you.. But I know how hard it can be to get the stuff, so since I have the ability, I'm just sharing the resource.

you can call or txt me on 021 354458 if you want some.

 Cheers,

Si.

Thanks...

I use it for my high modified mini as it just loves the stuff and runs just so much better on it.  Curently pay $2.50 per litre in Onehunga.  Is there a difference in Avgas and Racing fuel?  Octane levels?

It would be rude not too...

the difference between Race Fuel & AVGAS

The difference is that Race Fuel is not guaranteed to be suitable for aircraft. This can be because it's expired AVGAS, or some other reason. Sometimes Race Fuel & AVGAS will be the same thing, sometimes race fuel is not quite as good.

What I sell is what we put in aircraft, we have it here to put in aircraft. It's only because I'm a petrol head who has struggled in the past to find AVGAS for various vehicles I've owned that I bother to sell it for non-aviation use. No one else on the field here is prepared to do that.. They mutter something about stupid questions....

AVGAS is octane rated 100-130 (lean = 100, rich = 130)

You can buy drums of it from BP, but it will cost you more...

I had heard that AVGAS

I had heard that AVGAS proper wasn't good for continued use in vehicles as it had additives that didn't agree with carb/fuel line/whatever? Race gas used to be in the 104-110 octane range.

But totally pointless I reckon unless you're bumping up the compression ratio hellishly or running advanced timing.

Great

idea Fred....any chance of putting some in a drum and on a specified day everyone can come and fill up?

It would be rude not too...
