10/10/2010 - 13:30
Etc/GMT+12
This is WIMA's annual ride to support the Breast Cancer Appeal - Magnetos have always had a good representation of scooters on this ride so make sure you join in and put your club banner on your scoot. Meet at 10.00am at the Akld Netball Centre which is located at the new Stonefields suburb (old Winstones Quarry) cnr of Stonefields Ave and College Rd, St Johns. The ride departs at 10.30am.
All bikes, trikes and scoots are welcome.
The ride finishes at Western Springs.

What does the Club banner look like ?
Who`s got `em?
Who`s the ride leader ?
...have the Magnetos club logo with name and website URL on them. They were made possibly 4-5 years ago years ago and there may be a few left. Jennie, our Treasurer may have some.
The ride leader/s are the WIMA riders - just turn up to the departing point and you will see other scooterists - often closer to the front of the group so look out for them.

That was quite a blast! A few hundred bikes sweeping along the waterfront, up Hobson St, K Rd, Western Springs, with a police escort and green lights all the way!
I got stuck in the Harley crowd down the back, me on the Liberty. A good turnout from Magnetos, supporting this very worthwhile cause.
Got to see JohnD but could not find any other Magnetos. I think I was about 'mid-field' of the event. Someone said 600 bikes -not too sure of that but a good ride anyway.
and $18K raised, pretty good.
But where were the Magneto's? Westy represented, by himself! I saw Mirko with his partner at the end. But there was no representation by the Magneto's besides Westy at the front, shear contrast to last year, especially as there was no motorway section this year, perfect for scooters. I was very surprised to see the lack of turn out. And as I saw it Ritchie, you raced to be part of the HOG's, and ended up in the middle of the Ladies of Harley section whom were mainly riding japanese bikes, I don't blame you though, nice place to cruz. I guess JohnD was riding with Ulysses as I didn't see him at the front with Westy but I could be wrong. Also saw Pirate & Wife who won a prize, Mandl and his Westie mates. Oh and I won a spot prize! Oh and two other Vespa's a nice old PX and maybe Eddie's old Gt? And 4 or so Burgman's. Sorry but it was a crap turn out by the Magneto's. I didn't see any commitee members?
Westy or Hobie a big red GT or GTS was definitely there!
'twas not me, I was in Singapore at the time and couldn't help but notice the amount of classic Vespa crusing the streets there. They really stand out as there is nothing else on the roads more than 7 years old.
You've been away too long Fishman! Ritchie is one of our newest committee members.
About time we got a few photos posted of your honeymoon cruise.
Welcome back btw.
I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning
Maybe in this situation a flag maybe better. Not to sure where you would get the flag pole from though..........
Or meet somewhere prior and arrive enmasse.
And riding with the HOG's? Harleymoon photo's can't be posted as they are to big even when reduced in quality? Have tried, unbelievable trip though, 10,000kms.
I am an honorary girl
Woman - I think the word is? You did an awesome job on sunday. You also rode with the Ladies of Harley, I hope your not planning a trip to Thailand. But if you are I wouldn't judge you one little bit!
Yes, it was a very successful ride for all concerned. Around 570 bikes, and they raised around $14,000.
Good weather and turnout. As Fish said where were the Magnetos????
It is the only time one will ever be able to ride through town, through every GREEN light. The feeling was utter magic. The blast up Hobson St. surrounded by 2 HDs was well up in the Whoah factor.
What biking is all about. Sitting home is not. You all had your chance to join in. !! johnD
Don't forget that there was a "proper" Magnetos ride the day before, which was well attended. For many of us, we cannot make two rides in a row, given family commitments and the like.
Good that Magnetos attended this ride for a good cause, but it would have been equally nice to see some of you on the Italian Job ride.
There were 3 Magnetos Cmmttee members on the ride - the total amount raised and the cheque was written out by Sally, our other new Committee member and that amount was for $18,312.64 so great work done by WIMA.
As far as Magnetos members being in a collective group - that just happened by natural assembly last year and could have happened again this year but obviously the scoots didn't find each other. Yep, Pogo2, there could be a meeting point prior to the ride for Mags and then ride en masse to the starting place - if anyone wants to do that then do arrange it in 2011.
As far as the banners or flags go - the banners are individual ones for each scoot. We don't bring down our huge big banner to the WIMA ride cos it's not about us, but it is nice to let others around you know when you ride with your individual banner that you are representing Magnetos SC. As I said earlier in this thread, these scoot banners were made quite a few years ago and there aren't many left - maybe Jennie, our Treasurer has a few. Ask her next time you see her if you want to get one. At one point we did have a few small flags to fly from an aerial but these again were just a few and rare as hen's teeth these days.
Good to see the WIMA ride was supported by bikes and scoots and no doubt by a trike or 2 as well :)

Sorry to not make either. Those banners were made down Gt North Road instigation of Gary.
Sat was pre booked
Electrics probs on Sunday. Seems ok now, hears hoping.
Its hard to keep in a group on a ride like that, people get carried away with all the excitment of the moment.
