Downloading Google Earth
is another way to do a speedo check.
The ruler tool is very very accurate so I measure between points like traffic islands after timing a run.
Handy if the scoot runs out of numbers on the speedo.
I measured the length of the ridge on my house using the ruler tool and it was only a few ml out.

I used an abacus, sliderule and sundial to determine that my GT over-reads by precisely 8.375 km/h.... Or thereabouts....
In which case the dude in the Camry doing 100km/h in the righthand lane this morning was doing precisely 91.625km/h... Or thereabouts....
